Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online is based on the new Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 release, in terms of usability and functionality, the hosted version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM offers the user the same experience as Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011. However with the hosted option, Microsoft are providing users with the benefit of avoiding potential issues such as maintenance, server and storage space, that can arise with on-premise solutions.
