Microsoft CRM Rollups provide the latest updates to your software in order to help with issues and errors. Additionally, Rollups may also provide new features. With the forthcoming Rollup 10 being released, there are a number of interesting and valuable features available. Some of which are highlighted in this newsletter.

A database that was created by using Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Update Rollup 6 or a later version cannot be imported to a deployment of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Update Rollup 5 or an earlier version. This scenario is not supported.

Read-optimised forms load quicker than standard forms, because they load essential details from the CRM Online database in read-only mode.

When an email template is owned by a team an assigned user can now view this template in the Email Template lookup window.

When you create mail merge templates on related entities, such as the Account, Lead, Contact, Opportunity, and Case entities, current user fields that are selected additionally are now also displayed.
Rollup 10 solves the following issues:

The Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook crashes because of heap corruptions.

Goals in Microsoft Dynamics CRM do not display all participating records.

When you build the MAPI Contents table index, you experience slow performance.
-
You cannot detect and reconnect closed SQL connections when the underlying connections are closed because of a fatal connection error.
All these and more have been fixed with the latest update.
Outlook Clients
Good news for all Outlook client users, with the Rollup 10, update enhancements have been made to improve the reading pane. You can also have asynchronous promotion for tracked emails.
Activity Feeds
Enables the user to see a summary of key updates and changes within CRM applicable to their Contacts, Accounts, Leads or Opportunities.
It is important to ensure Windows Updates are disabled on all machines running CRM 2011 where you do not wish Rollup 10 to be applied until satisfactory testing is completed.
Further support for SQL 2012 is available with more flexible and powerful BI using Power Pivot and Power views. Additionally, support provides advanced BI capabilities directly from Excel.
