Usage of Dynamics 365 Team Member Licenses

How to check for non-conformant Team Member License usage in Dynamics 365

The Dynamics 365 Team Member License is a named user subscription designed for users whose jobs aren’t necessarily tied to a function, but who still need to use the basic functionality of Dynamics 365. This license gives users lightweight access through designated scenarios built into the Team Member experience.

From 1st February 2021, Microsoft has begun to contact administrators of Dynamics customers who have one or more users with Team Member licences who are not using the designated apps, or performing actions which are not allowed in line with these licensing terms.

It is advised that administrators should ensure that Team Member apps deployed will provide sufficient capabilities to handle user actions. Alternatively, users should be reassigned the appropriate licences if their operations do not conform to the new Team Member licence.

How to check for non-conformant usage in Dynamics 365

Navigate to the Power Platform Admin Center https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com/

Team1

Click on Analytics on the left side navigation panel and then select Dataverse

Team2

Click on the drop down arrow next to Download and then select the option for “Non-conformant usage by users with Team Member license”.

A csv file will be generated. Opening this in Excel, you will be able to see a list of User names along with details on when they accessed entities outside of the Team Member license and what the Entity and Operation was (e.g. Create msdyn_projecttask).

Note: if there are no instances of non-conformant access, then nothing will be displayed in this report.
