What’s happening?

Storage in Dynamics 365 is changing, effective of 1st April 2019. Dynamics 365 storage is becoming more granular and there will be different types available. As opposed to simply ‘Additional Storage’, you now have an entitlement to (and may purchase extra):

  • ‘Common Data Service for Apps Database Capacity’ (this is used to store entity definitions and data)
  • ‘Common Data Service for Apps Log Capacity’ (this is used to store user activity, and tracks data changes)
  • ‘Common Data Service for Apps File Capacity’ (this is used to store file attachments)

You will have an entitlement of these per tenant and also based on your subscriptions. You can purchase additional of these in 1GB increments.

In addition to this change to purchasing additional storage, you will no longer need to purchase additional production and non-production instances. You can create as many instances as you want, so long as you have at least 1GB of Common Data Service for Apps Database Capacity available.
