FAQs
Q. How do these differ from service packs and update rollups?

An update rollup is an update for Dynamics CRM On-Premise. It only contains minor improvements such as bug fixes.

FAQs
Q. How often do product updates occur?

Product updates for Dynamics CRM Online occur twice a year.

Service packs for Dynamics CRM On-Premise occur once a year.

Update rollups for Dynamics CRM On-Premise occur every 8-12 weeks.

FAQs
Q. How can I test the product updates?

For CRM Online, there is now the concept of a “Sandbox” environment. Sandboxes are isolated from the production environment. You will have the ability to copy your production environment in order to test out the new features.

For Dynamics CRM On-Premise customers, it is recommended a test environment is created which is isolated from production. If this is not possible then the next best solution is to start a new Online trial and import your customizations. You then have 30 days to test the new features.
