    What is Server-Side Sync?

Server-Side Sync is a new feature available for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013.  Server-Side Sync will be used to integrate emails, activities and tasks with CRM 2013.

    How do you get this?

Server-Side Sync is a feature readily built in to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013.

In the settings area you will have the option to create profiles for both incoming and outgoing data.  Users are then assigned to profiles.

Will I still need the Email Router?

The short answer is no. Server-Side Sync will be doing the same work as the Email Router and more.

However, not every scenario will be able to take advantage of Server-Side Sync.

Who will be able to use Server-Side Sync?

At the moment, Server-Side Sync will only work in certain supported scenarios:

    • Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online → Microsoft Office 365
    • Microsoft Dynamics CRM On-Premise → Microsoft Exchange On-Premise

Can I still use the Email Router if I can’t use Server-Side Sync?

Yes.  The Email Router is still supported in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013.

You will need to upgrade to the latest version to guarantee full functionality.

However Email Router for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 should still work so you can upgrade in good time.
